Summer Fun: Byron Lake Pool Celebrates Reopening With Pool Party

OAKDALE, NY — The revamped Byron Lake Park pool is celebrating its grand reopening with a free pool party on Thursday, July 25 sponsored by the Town of Islip.

The pool party will offer an afternoon of family fun from 4 to 6 p.m. Admission is free, and the event will feature a DJ, hot dogs, games and other fun activities, according to the town.

Around $20 million worth of pool and lake renovations began in October of 2022, which included the old pools getting demolished and replaced with new "state of the art" pools, according to Islip officials.

Other upgrades include a water slide and activity area for family fun.

In addition, the concession area was expanded to a stylish eatery called The Byron, septic system were upgraded, ADA accessibility was improved and the property received and overall "beautification."

The lake was also revamped, with upgrades including rebuilding of the bulkhead, reconstruction on the south end of the lake and the culverts for the walkways along the stream.
