Toddler Hurt After Running Into Moving SUV In Brentwood: Police

The 3-year-old ran into the side of an SUV on Saturday evening, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday after he ran into the side of a moving vehicle on Douglass Street, Suffolk County police said.

Tatiana Correa had parked her vehicle on Douglass Street, between Orient and Winfield avenues, around 5 p.m. and was taking her 3-year-old son out of the car when he ran across the street, police said. He stopped briefly, then ran back and struck the passenger side of a passing Land Rover Discovery, police said.

The child, of Mastic, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip and later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for observation and evaluation of possible injuries, according to police. The driver of the Land Rover was not injured, police said.

Police impounded the vehicle for a safety check.
