Man Charged With Stabbing Mother To Death In Long Island Home: Police
The woman, 59, was found at her home in Brentwood, police say.
BRENTWOOD, NY — A man was arrested and charged after stabbing his mother to death in their Brentwood home Tuesday, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, homicide squad detectives arrested Jason S. Kuruoglu, 30, of West White Street, and charged him with second-degree murder after stabbing and killing Melida Velasquez, 59.
He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a woman had been stabbed at a residence on West White Street at 5:26 p.m. Officers found Velasquez deceased in the home with stab wounds, police said.
