Eastchester Grad To Take Part in Prestigious Program

Eastchester High School graduate Piya Kerdlap is the recipient of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship to Thailand in the field of Energy. Kerdlap, who is a 2009 Eastchester High graduate, will now travel abroad so that he can take part in the program.

“I think this shows that the Eastchester school system really does breed students who are able to do things they wish to achieve and set their minds to," said Kerdlap. "I haven't been able to give back to EHS and this is one way I hope to do so.”

Currently, Kerdlap is studying Thai language at the University of Wisconsin. He recently graduated from the University of North Carolina, where he majored in environmental science.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. It is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those in other countries.
