J.J. Abrams, Jamal Joseph To Speak At Sarah Lawrence Commencements

Hollywood directors picked to address Sarah Lawrence undergraduate, graduate ceremonies.

YONKERS, NY - Movie directors J.J. Abrams and Jamal Joseph have been picked to be this year's commencement speakers at Sarah Lawrence College.

Abrams and Joseph will address the undergraduate and graduate events, respectively.

The graduate commencement is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. on the college's Westlands South Lawn. The undergraduate commencement is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m., and will also take place at the Westlands South Lawn.

Abrams is known for directing reboots of famous movie franchises including "Star Wars" and "Star Trek," as well as having producer roles in franchises such as "Cloverfield" and "Westworld."

Joseph's work has appeared on Fox, HBO and A&E, Sarah Lawrence notes, adding that he wrote "Panther Baby: A Life of Rebellion and Reinvention," which is based on his time with the Black Panthers.
