BRONXVILLE, NY — Police said that the phone threat targeting a Bronxville school originated on the other side of the world.

On Wednesday, just before 1:30 p.m., the Bronxville Police Department received a call from a national hotline reporting that they received a threat that bombs were placed inside the Bronxville School. Bronxville police officers immediately responded to the location and started a search of the perimeter. A complete evacuation and search of the school was conducted with the help of other nearby Westchester County police agencies.

"Working closely with our partners in the Federal Bureau of Investigation we have determined that the threat originated from the country of Malaysia," Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale said in the statement. "Considering the difficulties conducting an international investigation and the lack of a reliable relationship with any law enforcement agency in Malaysia, it is unlikely that an arrest will occur as a result of this investigation. There were threats to other schools on Long Island yesterday; one in particular was similar to our situation, in that it included a call to a national hotline regarding a bomb threat."

Chief Satriale thanked the Westchester County Police Department, the Tuckahoe Police Department, the Eastchester Police Department, the Yonkers Police Department, the Scarsdale Police Department and the FBI for their assistance.
