3 Men Arrested, Charged For 2023 NYC Fatal Shooting: NYPD

Dante​ Hunter,​ of Queens, has been charged with murdering 19-year-old Joshua Taylor, ​of Canarsie on July 23, 2023, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — 3 men were arrested and charged earlier this week in connection to a 2023 fatal shooting that left a 19-year-old Queens man dead and another injured, police said.

Dante Hunter, of Queens, has been charged with murdering 19-year-old Joshua Taylor, of Canarsie on July 23, 2023, in Middle Village, police said.

Hunter along with Damone Miller, of Canarsie and Shamel Capers, of New Jersey are also facing attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment charges, police said.

The NYPD arrested Hunter on Monday, while Miller and Capers were taken into custody the following day.

On July 23, police found Taylor with a gunshot wound to the torso at 79-45 Metropolitan Avenue at about 3:25 a.m.

EMS transported the 19-year-old to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

A 21-year-old man was injured after suffering a gunshot wound to the arm. He went to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
