Art of Brooklyn’s Horror Short Screenplay Contest is scary good
AoBFF is accepting new short Horror screenplays (40 pages or less) for their latest 'IndieBoom' script contest until August 10.

Fresh off their 15th annual edition that ran June 1-13, the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is accepting original Horror screenplays of 40 pages or less for their latest ‘IndieBoom’ script contest. Submissions are open until August 10.
“Indie horror is a really exciting genre, with work that’s always on the cutting edge. We want to give writers a platform to showcase their new scripts, with prizes to help them grow, network and succeed,” said AoBFF co-founder Anthony DeVito. “Manny and Lindsay Serrano of Mass Grave Pictures will be reading and judging every entry. We NEVER use AI to read or judge screenplays, because it’s not ethical to entrust human artwork to an algorithm.”
Industry prizes include Pro listings from InkTip and VIP passes to the 2026 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. The Grand Prize winner also gets a script consultation with award-winning indie horror outfit Mass Grave Pictures. And everyone who enters will receive a free webinar from Roadmap Writers. Entries are via FilmFreeway, with a discount for their Gold members.
