A Brooklyn man will spend 20 years in prison for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend back in 2020.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2020 fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man at the Gowanus Houses, authorities announced.
Rudolph Riley, 32, of Brownsville, was sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent Del Giudice after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Feburary, prosecutors said.
“The defendant’s guilty plea and today’s sentence hold him accountable for a senseless act that took the life of an innocent man," Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.

The deadly incident, on May 26, 2020, stemmed from an argument between Riley and his ex-girlfriend as he was dropping off their 2-year-old, authorities said. When the woman’s new boyfriend —identified as Cory Turner— tried to intervene he was promptly shot in the arm and chest by Riley.
Turner was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
