The 2024 NYC Paws for Prevention Walk will be held on June 15 at Coney Island's Steeplechase Pavilion.
BROOKLYN, NY — Suicide remains the leading cause of death in the United States and the second leading cause of death for people ages 25-34 in New York, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
As a way to raise awareness and prevent suicides, the foundation will host the 2024 NYC Paws for Prevention Walk on June 15 at Coney Island’s Steeplechase Pavilion.

"Knowing that pets can lift spirits and offer comfort, we are proud to bring members of the
community and their animal companions together to support one another, share their
stories and enjoy pet-friendly activities,” said Scott Henkle, Chair, Paws for Prevention
Committee. “We hope this event will honor those we have lost and create a space for honest conversations about mental health.”
Veterinary Emergency Group and Who’s My Good Dog day care center will sponsor the event, welcoming attendees and their pets to participate in the 5K walk at their own pace and indulge in tasty treats.

The Paws for Prevention Walk will raise vital funds for AFSP’s education, research,
advocacy of suicide prevention efforts and support those affected by suicide.
“With suicide affecting one in five American families, there is a pressing need to call
attention to the signs of suicide and the resources that can help combat future occurrences, especially in the NYC community,” said Samantha Remulla, Special Events
