Dog Reunited With Owner, Other Items Found In Brooklyn Burglaries
Police investigating several burglary reports recovered a number of items from a man's home in Gravesend.
GRAVESEND, BROOKLYN — Cops arrested a Brooklyn man and recovered stolen items from the man's home, including a golden retriever named Scooby, as they investigated several reports of burglaries in Gravesend, according to the NYPD.
The NYPD said two officers were investigating several reports of burglaries in the vicinity of West 12th Street and Highlawn Avenue in Gravesend on Thursday. While investigating, police recovered surveillance video from one of the four incidents and they recognized a man in the video as someone they had previously arrested.
Police knocked on the suspect's front door and as the man answered the door, a dog emerged to greet the cops, the NYPD said. Police recognized the dog as having been stolen, the Police Department said.

While investigating, the NYPD said the officers noticed several more items that had been reported stolen in plain view. The man was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
Scooby was reunited with his owner at the scene.

Police obtained a search warrant that was executed on Friday. The NYPD said the following items were recovered from the man's home:
- Narcotic Pills
- A machete, a sword, a metal knuckled knife and an expandable baton
- Electronic equipment
- Several jewelry items
- A police scanner (tuned to the 62nd Precinct frequency)
- Credit/debit cards
- Identification (green cards, passports, driver's license)
- A dog leash with the name "Scooby" embroidered
The accused, identified as 23-year-old Cory Gaudio, is charged with two counts of attempted burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful posession of radio devices and violation of local laws.
Police said they also recovered items from unreported crimes and are looking for victims to identify their property. The property that is unaccounted for is pictured below:

The investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.
