Driver Nabbed In Fatal Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Crash: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a local pedestrian back in November, police said Wednesday.

Sharon Dacosta, 66, faces charges including leaving the scene of a fatal accident for her alleged role in the Nov. 13 crash that claimed the life of Mohammed Hossain, 46, of Brooklyn, police said.

Police say Dacosta, who has no prior arrests, was behind the wheel of a Honda CR-V and was headed south on Fort Hamilton Parkway when she allegedly struck Hossain as he crossed 37th Street.

According to the NYPD, Hossain was thrown to the ground when a second car struck him. He sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene, while both drivers fled, police said.

The other driver has not yet been located, an NYPD spokesperson said.
