Off-Duty Police Officer Arrested On Assault Charges In Brooklyn: NYPD

Police say the assault involved an NYPD officer and his wife on Sunday.

BROOKLYN, NY — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested and charged with assault and harassment in Brooklyn Sunday, authorities said.

Avijit Boiragee, 33, was arrested in the 61st Precinct (which covers Sheepshead Bay, Kings Bay, Manhattan Beach and parts of Gravesend) at about 3:50 p.m., police said.

A NYPD spokesperson confirmed officers responded to a domestic incident involving the officer. The spokesperson declined to disclose further details on the incident.

According to PIX11, the officer was suspended without pay.
