BROOKLYN, NY – An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested and charged on drunk driving charges in Brooklyn early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Franklin Garcia, 50, was arrested in the 62nd Precinct (which covers Bensonhurst, Mapleton and Bath Beach) at about 2:27 a.m., police said.

Garcia is facing driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired and refusal to take breath test charges, police said.
