Here's Where To Get A Free Turkey For Your Holiday Table In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — Thanksgiving, which is coming up on Nov. 28, is a day for heaping plates of food, political arguments with your family, and gratitude, but it can be a financial challenge for some.

Thankfully, in Brooklyn, there are several chances to get a free turkey in the week leading up to the big day hosted by local elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and even legendary rapper Busta Rhymes.

FRIDAY

State Senator Jessica Scarella-Spanton's Turkey Giveaway

When: Friday, Nov. 22, 1 p.m. until supplies run out

Where: 1906 Mermaid Ave., Brooklyn, NY, 11224

Details: The Coney Island State Senator teamed up with the local IHOP to give families free turkeys for the holidays. More information here.

SATURDAY

LinkNYC Thanksgiving Food Drive... Featuring Busta Rhymes

When: Nov. 23, 11 a.m.

Where: P.S. 135 at 684 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn, NY 11203

Details: LinkNYC, in collaboration with Assemblymember Chandler-Waterman, IAmWondaWoman, East Flatbush Village, Inc., and Busta Rhymes will distribute turkeys, fresh produce, canned goods and other essentials.

The event will feature workshops about mental health and a free performance from P.S. 135 alumnus hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes.

Annual Turkey Giveaway From Councilmember Crystal Hudson And DoorDash

When: Nov. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf, 260 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY, 11225

Details: DoorDash provided $2,000 to allow event organizers and other community partners to purchase turkeys and other goods for locals in need.

Councilmember Sandy Nurse's Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

When: Nov. 23, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
