Legendary Rock Venue Saint Vitus Bar in Greenpoint Shuts Down
The owners announced the bar's closure on Instagram.

GREENPOINT, NY — Saint Vitus Bar has officially closed after 13 years of raucous shows on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, its owners said on Instagram Saturday.
The closure comes after several months of permit-related issues for the bar. In February, city officials shut the place down while a band was performing, saying that the venue did not have the proper permits to host rock shows, Gothamist reported.
However, while the venue on Manhattan Avenue is closed, not all hope is lost. The group will continue to host shows under the name "Saint Vitus Presents" at other nearby bars, and its goodbye message hinted at a possible resurrection.
