More Than 200 Arrested In Grand Army Plaza Antiwar Protest: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY — Hundreds of people were arrested during a pro-Palestinian protest at Grand Army Plaza Tuesday night near Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's home, according to videos and reports.

The protest, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, called for an end to the United States military aid to Israel amid the war in Gaza, videos show.

"Stop arming Israel," the protesters projected on the face of Brooklyn Public Library.

Police arrested 208 protesters who sat in the streets and blocked traffic, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

The group also gathered outside the home of Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and demanded "the U.S. stop arming and funding the Israeli government", according to Twitter posts from the Jewish organization.

The Jewish organization posted videos and photos of numerous arrests throughout the night on X (Twitter).

The protest and arrests follow similar actions on Columbia University's and NYU's campuses, where students and faculty have demonstrated against the war in Gaza.
