BROOKLYN, NY — Thousands of Brooklyn residents enjoyed an array of food options and music, as well as took part in supporting local businesses at the opening night of the Brooklyn Night Market on Monday.

Over 50 food vendors and a number of up-and-coming local artists will be featured throughout its third season.

"We knew we were going to get a huge crowd today, the vibe is different here,"said Marco Shalma, founder of MASC Hospitality. "We are excited to be back here."

About 50 percent of the businesses featured are brand-new vendors at Brooklyn Night Market this season, according to Shalma.

"The biggest trend we're seeing is more Latin and Caribbean food —more grilling and meats," he said. "Vegan food was the star of last year's market, but this year there will be a rotating lineup of vendors. We're excited for the people to see."

Brooklyn Night Market will be held at Industry City in Sunset Park on the last Monday of every month from May until October.

"When you get six, seven thousands people coming out on a Monday, you know you're doing something right, Shalma said.

The next Brooklyn Night Market will be held on May 27 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on 36th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues.
