BROOKLYN, NY — More than a year after a Brownsville shooting left a 24-year-old man dead, police say they’ve identified the suspect responsible.

Authorities say they’re searching for 38-year-old Jahmal Grant, who is wanted in connection with a May 2024 shooting that killed 24-year-old Maurice Boodie in Brownsville.

Just after midnight on May 12, officers rushed to reports of gunfire near 2274 Strauss Street, where they found 24-year-old Maurice Boodie suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and right leg, police said.

Boodie was rushed by EMS to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead shortly after, at 1:43 a.m.

No arrests were made immediately following the shooting, but police have now released the name and photo of the suspected attacker.
