Search Continues For Missing BK Man, Son Asks For Help From Community

BROOKLYN, NY — A 71-year-old man from East New York remains missing a week after he was last seen, leaving his son and family concerned for his well-being. They're calling on the community for help in bringing him home.

Ivanhoe Hunter was last seen at about 4:10 p.m on April 26, his son, Tim Hunter, told Patch on Friday. The 71-year-old man was reported to be on Woodruff Avenue, near Prospect Park.

"It's not like him, he always does three things — he never misses church, going to work, and he always makes it a point to visit me," Tim said. "When he didn't show up for either of those [things], we got worried.

The 71-year-old father is described as standing 5'9" tall and weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes, black hair, and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue Yankees hat, blue bomber jacket and dark-colored sneakers.

Fellow parishioners from Hunter's church heard about his disappearance and conducted a search party earlier this week —handing out filers and getting the word out to nearby residents.

The search effort resulted in a couple new leads, Tim said. One important detail was that his father may have been at the Parkside Ave. train station.

"He's on the older side, but he doesn't have a history of mental health issues — he doesn't have Alzheimer's or dementia. So we're confused on what happened," Tim explained.

Tim's family along with members from his father's church have organized a search effort to take place Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Anyone interested in participating should gather at the Parkside Ave. train station.

"We want a healthy crowd so we can ask as many people as possible," Tim said. "After tomorrow, we hope to have some more leads. We are hoping for a safe return — we just want my father to come home safe."
