Southbound BQE Reduced To Single Lane This Weekend: Report

The Downtown Brooklyn portion of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway will be getting new weight sensors installed.

BROOKLYN, NY — The southbound portion of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway will be under construction from Sept. 21-23, leaving only one lane open for drivers, 1010 WINS reports.

According to 1010 WINS, the New York City Department of Transportation is installing weigh-in-motion sensors to protect the triple-cantilever road from overweight vehicles.

The closures begin at 1 a.m. Saturday and last through 5 a.m. on Monday, leaving just one lane open from Adams Street to Washington Street, according to the report.
