What To Know About Trash Pick Up On Oct. 14
Due to the federal holiday, some delays in trash pick up might occur, DSNY said.
NEW YORK CITY— The New York City Department of Sanitation said on Tuesday that curbside trash, recycling and compost pick up will be suspended on Monday, Oct. 14.
The day off is in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, a national holiday that officially replaced Columbus Day in 2021. The day is also recognized as Italian Heritage Day since each year, a big parade celebrating Italian-American heritage marches up Fifth Avenue, from 47th Street to 72nd Street in Manhattan.
People who normally receive Monday trash, recycling, or compost collection should place their garbage on the curb on Monday evening for collection on Oct. 15, DSNY officials said.
