Updates: Suspect Identified in Brooklyn Boiler-Room Rape of 60-Year-Old

The violent sex attacker was still on the loose Thursday, according to the NYPD.

He is now described as a black male between five-foot-six and five-foot-seven inches tall with a medium complexion and a medium build. He weighs about 145 pounds, has close-cut hair, and has been seen in a blue shirt.

NEW LOTS, BROOKLYN — A 60-year-old woman was repeatedly punched and sexually assaulted in a New Lots boiler room Wednesday, police said.

At 6 a.m., police received a call reporting a woman who had been sexually assaulted.

According to the NYPD, the woman was approached by a man near 463 Berriman St. The man covered her mouth, dragged her into the building's boiler room, "repeatedly punched her in the face," and sexually assaulted her.

The man fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to police. The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

Detectives describe the man as a black male of an unknown age wearing dark-colored clothing resembling the outfit of a maintenance worker.

No further information was available as of Thursday afternoon. The attack was being investigated by the Brooklyn Special Victims Squad.

This attack occurred in the NYPD's 75th Precinct, which patrols East New York. According to official police statistics, through July 3, major crime in the 75th had collectively decreased about 1.3 percent compared to the same time period last year.

A total of 27 sexual assaults had been recorded by police in the precinct through July 3, down from 29 during that period in 2015.
