Brooklyn Cellphone Thief Targets 14-Year-Old Girl: Police

Two unidentified robbers shoved a 13-year-old boy to the ground and stole a 14-year-old girl's phone on March 18 in City Line, police said.

CITY LINE, BROOKLYN — The NYPD is on the hunt for two men, pictured above, who police believe assaulted and robbed two teenagers on the night of Friday, March 18.

The suspects approached the victims, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, near the intersection of Liberty and Lincoln avenues in City Line, near East New York, according to the NYPD.

The suspects pushed the boy to the ground and then stole the girl's cellphone before fleeing the area, police said.

The boy and girl were not injured in the incident, police said.

Anyone with information can confidentially report it on the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers website, or anonymously call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The NYPD runs a free program known as Operation ID that lets residents register their electronic devices with the department. That way, if cops recover a phone or another valuable item after it is stolen, they can return the item to its rightful owner.

This crime described above occurred in the NYPD's 75th Precinct. According to police statistics, through March 20, major crimes were collectively down about 4 percent compared to the same time period last year. Robbery reports had also fallen, from 142 last year to 121 this year.
