Man Shot in East New York Over Necklace: NYPD
A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Monday by a necklace thief who escaped in a green Chrysler, police said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Monday by a robber who first tried to steal his necklace, police said.
Just before 11 a.m. on May 23, the man was working at the intersection of Shepherd Avenue and Belmont Avenue in East New York when a second individual approached him and tried to grab his necklace, according to the NYPD.
The victim tried to fight, but the assailant pulled out a gun and shot several times, hitting the victim in the arm and torso, according to police.

The shooter then fled in a 2004 or 2005 green Chrysler Pacifica (pictured above) with New York license plates. The car was driven by a third man, police said.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Detectives describe the shooter as a light complexioned black man between 35 and 40 years old.

This alleged crime took place in the NYPD's 75th Precinct. According to official police statistics, through May 15, major crimes in the 75th were collectively down about 3.2 percent compared to the same time period in 2015.
A total of 214 robberies were reported through May 15, compared to 244 during the same time period in 2015.
