Man Shot Dead Near Glenmore Houses in Brownsville: NYPD
Officers found a 52-year-old man at 108 Christopher Ave. with a gunshot wound to the torso shortly before 11 p.m. on June 23.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A 52-year-old man was shot dead near the Glenmore Houses in Brownsville on Thursday night, the NYPD said.
Police responded to a 911 call just before 11 p.m. reporting a shooting at 108 Christopher Ave.

The responding officers found the man with a single gunshot wound to his torso, according to the NYPD. The man was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the man hadn't been released as of Friday morning, pending the notification of his family. No arrests had been made as of Friday, and an investigation into the shooting was ongoing, police said.

This shooting took place in the NYPD's 73rd Precinct. According to official police statistics, through June 19, major crimes had collectively decreased about 3.4 percent in the 73rd compared to the same time period in 2015.
Two murders were reported in the precinct through June 19, compared to four during the same period last year. During that time period, 16 shooting incidents had left 17 victims, compared to 25 shootings and 27 victims in 2015.
