A Train Phone Thief Targets 56-Year-Old Woman: NYPD

An unidentified male suspect robbed a 56-year-old woman of her cellphone on the A Train in East New York, police say.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — A 56-year-old woman was robbed of her cellphone by an unidentified male suspect (pictured above) while riding the A Train in Brooklyn, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

The victim was aboard a northbound A Train when the suspect approached her and removed her cellphone from her pocketbook on Sept. 7 at 12:15 p.m., police said.

The suspect fled the train at the Euclid Avenue subway station, NYPD said.

This robbery took place in the NYPD's 75th Precinct, which covers East New York. According to official police statistics, through Sept. 11, grand larceny in the 75th is down 23 percent compared to the same period last year.
