Two Shot Sunday, One Dead in East New York: NYPD

The deceased, a 22-year-old man, lived at 797 Linwood St. in Brooklyn, police said.

NEW LOTS, BROOKLYN — Two men were shot and one was killed Sunday outside a New Lots home, according to the NYPD.

On June 12, police responded to a call just before 3 a.m. reporting a shooting outside 797 Linwood St., police said.

At the scene, officers found a 32-year-old man shot in his left hand, and a 22-year-old man shot three times in his left leg, according to the NYPD.

Both men were taken to Brookdale Hospital, where the younger man was pronounced dead, police said.

The names of the victims had not been released as of Monday morning, pending family notification.

Police said the 22-year-old lived at the Linwood Street address of the shooting, an NYPD spokesman said. The 32-year-old man lived in Manhattan.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and no arrests had been made as of Monday morning, according to the NYPD.

This alleged crime took place in the NYPD's 75th Precinct. According to official police statistics, through June 5, major crimes in the 75th were collectively down about 1.3 percent compared to the same time period last year.

A total of 10 homicides had been reported in the precinct through June 5, compared to 12 during the same period the previous year.

Through June 5, 19 shootings had resulted in 22 victims, compared to 30 shootings with 33 victims during the same period in 2015.
