VIDEO: Man Allegedly Robs Brownsville Family Dollar With Knife

Surveillance video caught the suspect allegedly whipping out a knife and taking cash from the register.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A man robbed a Family Dollar in Brownsville with a knife on Monday afternoon, stealing an unknown amount of cash from the register and fleeing the scene, cops said. At a little after 2 p.m., the man threatened a 23-year-old employee of the store with a knife, cops said. She stepped aside, and he took the cash, escaping westbound on New Lots Avenue, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-six-inches tall with a "medium build." He was last seen wearing a multi-colored knit cap, a gray hooded sweater, dark pants and yellow boots.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD caught the majority of the alleged crime scene.
