Sergio Reyes Funeral: Bushwick Teen Killed By NYPD Will Be Laid To Rest Wednesday

The 18-year-old was shot 14 times, the medical examiner's office found.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — The funeral for Sergio Reyes, an 18-year-old who was shot 14 times and killed by police on Sunday, will be held in Williamsburg on Wednesday evening.

Reyes was fatally shot after he robbed a grocery store with a realistic-looking pellet gun, cops said. The teen was shot in his heart, lungs, aorta, spinal cord, liver, stomach and bones, according to results from the medical examiner's office. His death is being treated as a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

The teen was a senior at Leadership and Public Service High School in lower Manhattan and would have graduated this school year, his mother, Patricia Reyes, told DNAInfo.

"I don't know why this happened," Reyes said. "It hurts so much."

Reyes' funeral takes place on Wednesday from 4 - 9 p.m. at Ortiz Funeral Home at 201 Havemeyer St. in Williamsburg.
