Massive care crash rescue operation in Carmel (midhudsonnews.com) — Emergency crews from across eastern Putnam responded to a serious rollover crash Tuesday off Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel, near Putnam Hospital Center, rescuing an unconscious driver pinned in a car down a steep embankment. The patient was transported to Danbury Hospital, Stoneleigh Avenue was closed for over an hour, and Carmel’s assistant fire chief praised the coordinated technical rescue effort.

William Amirante, 64 (putnamcountycourier.com) — Longtime Carmel resident and 1979 Carmel High School graduate William “Billy” Amirante has died at age 64, remembered for his big laugh, love of New York sports, and devotion to family and friends. His family will announce a future celebration of life, and they suggest donations to Carmel Rams Youth Sports or sharing a meal in his honor.
