Dummy Hand Grenade Found in Carroll Gardens

On 1st Place near Clinton Street.

Police responded to a report of a hand grenade found in the quiet Brooklyn neighborhood of Carroll Gardens on Wednesday afternoon.

A police spokesperson confirms that someone at 79 1st Place, near Clinton Street, called police around 2 p.m. because they had discovered a hand grenade.

It’s unclear whether the grenade was still operational when it was found.

UPDATE: Police say that when they showed up to the given address and examined the suspicious device, they “determined it to be inert.”

In other words, the object was a dummy or prop grenade that looked like the real thing.
