A public hearing on the closure has been scheduled at the school for Monday, April 2 at 5:30 p.m.

15K429 currently serves students in grades six through 12 for District 15. It shares the building with the , an existing district secondary school for students in six through 12 grade, and PS 368, a special-education program serving nine through 12 grade students with autism.

In that instance, all current Global Studies students who have not graduated before the start of the 2012-2013 school year will be guaranteed seats and automatically enrolled in New School.

All school staff, however, would have to reapply for new positions at the New School, which would operate under new school-specific competencies to measure and screen prospective educators.

How do you feel about the proposed closure? What will best serve the educational needs of the children in the neighborhood? Should existing staff have to reapply for new jobs?
