
CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — Two men stole around $8,000 worth of cigarettes from two Smith Street Rite Aids, police said.
It started around 4:20 a.m. the morning of Wednesday, June 14, when the men walked into the Rite Aid on Smith and President streets in Carroll Gardens, police said. They took $4,000 worth of cigarettes from the shelves and left the store, police said.
Then, about 10 minutes later, they showed up at the Rite Aid on Smith and Warren streets in Cobble Hill, police said. There, they also took $4,000 worth of cigarettes, but their escape wasn't as smooth, according to police.

The men were confronted by a store employee, and one of the men took out a knife and slashed him, police said. The two men got in a black vehicle and made off, police said. The employee was taken to Methodist Hospital.
