Nighttime R Train Will Skip Huge Stretch of Brooklyn Again This Week
Including all stops in Fort Hamilton, Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, South Slope, Gowanus and Park Slope.

Bad news if you live anywhere in southwest Brooklyn and commute home via the R Train at night.
For the second week in a row, the MTA is announcing nighttime R Train closures for routine maintenance, cleaning and repairs.
The R won‘t be running between 95th Street and 36th Street, all the way from the bottom of Fort Hamilton to the top of Sunset Park.

You can board or hop off the R at the 36th Street station, but the train won‘t be stopping at any of the stations in South Slope, Gowanus and Park Slope. Specifically, it will be skipping the Union Street, 4th Avenue-9th Street, Prospect Avenue, and 25th Street stops.
The changes apply between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weeknights until Friday, August 7.

A free shuttle bus will be running between the 95th Street station and the 59th Street station — stopping at 86th Street, 77th Street, and Bay Ridge Avenue — and you can catch the N at 59th. But other than that, you’re on your own.
During last week’s closures, the MTA says it cleaned nearly 9,000 feet of track, removed 37,000 pounds of debris and painted platform edges.
See the MTA’s website for more details. And good luck out there, westsiders.
