Criminal Shoots at Cops on Columbia Street
Officers of the 76 Precinct found themselves in an early morning shootout over the weekend when an allegedly inebriated man on probation was found in violation of parole. While patrolling along Columbia Street on Saturday, April 7 at 3:00 a.m., officers observed a 31-year-old male consuming a beer in public and approached him. The individual immediately fled, firing several shots at the police officers. Returning fire, one of the cops ended up striking the suspect in the shoulder. But, despite being injured, the individual managed to flee the scene. After an intense investigation, he was arrested the following day in Queens, cops said. The subject lives in Red Hook and has a criminal history, cops said. As the incident is still undergoing investigation, no further details could be released at this time.

Car Stolen on Sackett Street
A 2009 BMW worth $75,000 was stolen while parked along 300 block of Sackett Street, between Court and Clinton Streets, at some point between 3:00 p.m. on April 2 and 8:00 a.m. April 3. The victim, who was from Staten Island, stated that the black Series 7 model featuring a hard top and four doors had been parked on the south side of the street, and he returned to find it had been removed. After a canvass of the area, no broken glass was found on the ground where the vehicle was parked. The case is still undergoing investigation.

Basement Burglary on Warren Street
On Tuesday April 3 between 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., an apartment was broken into on Warren Street. The victim, a 42-year-old male, stated that unknown individuals entered through the basement without permission causing damage to front basement door, cops said. The crooks removed various property, including a laptop worth $800, a wallet worth $25, an American Express credit card, a Gap credit card, and a Cool Pix digital camera worth $99, then fled.
Graffiti Tagged on Van Brunt Street
An unknown person left five graffiti tags in black and silver spray paint along 200 block of Van Brunt Street at some point between midnight  March 15 through 11:30 a.m. April 3. The tags include: “Chewy” “Crank” “Eggy” “Kuma” and “Lovelife.” No suspects have been identified at this time, cops said.
Front Door Damaged on Baltic Street
An apartment entrance at 426 Baltic Street was kicked in on Thursday, April 5, some time between 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. Nothing was removed from the apartment when the perpetrator fled the scene. The victim is a female, 33. The door and door frame, which were both damaged, are valued at $250. No suspects have been identified at this time, cops said.Â
