Spicy Tofu and Green Beans

On a rainy recent afternoon I was out on the town and feeling like it was time for lunch. You know that feeling? It has nothing to do with a clock.

was just a few feet away. I've had take-out from this neighborhood Thai restaurant before, but had never eaten there. I stepped inside and was instantly warmed by the comfortable banquette lined with pillows in silk cover, and the Jasmine tea that was brought to me almost instantly.

The lunch special at Lemongrass can't be beat. An entree, steamed rice, an appetizer, salad and soup all for $7.95?

The soup was delicious and warming, and had a smoky flavor. Mostly a spicy broth, but with a bit of galangal and scallion, the flavors woke my palate.

But the entree of spicy tofu and green beans was the highlight. The dish was spicy, so the faint hearted, beware! But it's worth a try, if you're up for it.
