Urban Meadow CSA Seeks New Members

One more great local option to choose from.

As the weather warms, CSA enrollment is coming into full swing. As over the past few weeks, there are to choose from and today we are introducing one more.

Urban Meadow CSA works with Ant Hill Farm, located in Honesdale, Pa, and offers a rotating roster of vegetables and fruit each week, which can sometimes introduce families to foods they otherwise wouldn't have tried.

"The most interesting vegetable that we have gotten is Kohlrabi," said Paul Barker, a coordinator at Urban Meadow CSA. "Before starting the CSA three years ago, I had never heard of it. However, it is extremely versatile as it can be used cooked or raw and has a great flavor and texture that really adds something special to a salad or dish."

This year the Urban Meadow CSA season will start on June 2 and will end October 27. Pickups will be every Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm and offer a wide selection of vegetables from week to week.

"The thing that I love most about the CSA is when I get to go and pick up fresh produce on my block on Saturday during our distribution time," added Barker. "I love seeing what we received for the week and being able to think about what recipes I will make with the fresh vegetables. I love that it also makes me think a little bit more about meals and what I am eating."
