What's Open and Closed This Thanksgiving

We like to think we have it all wrapped up come Thanksgiving Day, but sometimes we need that last-minute item, bottle of wine or hostess gift. 

Here is a list of what is open and closed on Thanksgiving Day: 

- All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library are closed today.

- There is no garbage or recycling pick-up. Garbage will be picked up Friday morning and recyclables will be collected next week for those whose normal garbage day is Thursday.

- All government offices and courts are closed, as well as all public schools.

- Alternate side parking is suspended for today and meters are off.

- Union Market will open until 4 p.m.

- Most chains such as Dunkin' Donuts and 7-Elevens, pharmacies like Rite Aid, Walgreens and more will be open.

- Many bars will be open during the holiday as well as liquor stores for shortened hours. Call ahead.
