You Have More Time To Complain About Massive Flatbush Avenue Skyscraper Project
You now have until July 28 to get your feedback in.

BOERUM HILL, BROOKLYN — Concerned citizens have a little bit more time to give their feedback on a mega-development slated for the Boerum Hill-Downtown Brooklyn area.
The city's Educational Construction Fund wants to build two apartment towers that include two new schools in an area near Schermerhorn Street, Flatbush Avenue, State Street and Third Avenue.
A public scoping meeting was held about the project at the end of June, and the public initially had only until July 10 to respond. A group of local elected officials said that wasn't enough time, and the ECF extended the comment period through July 28.

"The original deadline of July 10, allowed for just 12 days across a long holiday weekend for the public to review the controversial proposal and submit comments," State Sen. Velmanette Montgomery wrote on Facebook.
Velmanette along with Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon and Councilman Steve Levin wrote a letter to the ECF asking for the deadline extension.

"Seven working days do not allow enough time for people who were not in attendance on June 28 to thoroughly review the proposal and craft a written response," their letter said, according to Brooklyn Paper.
Anyone interested in making their voice heard about the proposed development can contact Jennifer Maldonado, the Executive Director of the New York City Educational Construction Fund or email KhalilGibran80Flatbush@schools.nyc.gov.
