1. The fifth-grade students at Moriches Elementary School recently started the "Battle of the Books," a competition to see which student can read the most books between now through May. To enter into the battle, student have to take a quiz after finishing a book. Students who make it through the quiz stage will then be put into teams for a mini battle, with the winners squaring off in June. (Press Release Desk)
2. Suffolk County Errol Toulon said Tuesday that the Elf on a Shelf has been arrested and currently incarcerated in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility. The Elf allegedly has been destroying kitchen countertops, making messes in bathrooms, and swinging from dining room chandeliers. The Elf has been charged with "silly mischief" and attempting to distract the sheriff from his duties. (Riverhead Patch)
3. A virtual exhibit has been launched by Suffolk County Community College-Eastern Campus photography and digital illustration students. The online slide show presentation highlights the accomplishments of the students; all works were created by students during the fall semester. (Press Release Desk)
