1. Music teacher Jonathan Dignam's "Winter hobby" lists nearly 500 homes in Nassau and Suffolk counties that are festively decorated for the holiday season. The map also extends into New York City. You can find Dingman's LI Lights Map on his Facebook page. (Center Moriches-Eastport Patch)
2. The 5K, titled “Andrew’s Top Gun Run,” is in honor of the late Wading River Boy Scout who died in 2018 after he and his troop were struck by a drunk driver while hiking in Manorville. The event is hosted by the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation, the nonprofit established in his name. The race will start at 9 a.m. on March 26, days before what would have been Andrew’s 16th birthday. You can register for the run on the official website. (RiverheadLOCAL)
3. The Peconic Sportsman’s Club presented a $10,000 check each to the North Fork Breast Health Coalition, the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition and Lucia’s Angels and the during a luncheon on Dec. 14. RiverheadLOCAL reported that "the organizations all provide free services and financial assistance to support breast cancer patients and raise awareness for best practices to identify and prevent cancer."
