1. Man Charged In Long Island Shooting Death: A Flanders man was arrested and charged with shooting and killing a Moriches resident outside his home on Friday. According to Suffolk County Police, on Wednesday, homicide squad detectives arrested Michael Gilbert, 28, of Riverside Avenue, and charged him with second-degree murder. The incident took place at Tall Oaks Circle in Moriches on Friday at 1 a.m. when Tyrell Durham, 37, was shot outside his house. Durham was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said. (Center Moriches-Eastport Patch)
2. Panel To Consider OT Changes For NY Farmworkers: A state panel is expected by Dec. 15 to consider making it easier for farmworkers to be paid overtime; a prospect denounced by some farmers on Long Island and across New York State. At a news conference on Tuesday at a farm in Brookhaven hamlet, local farmers and their supporters urged the wage board to defer action again. (Newsday)
