Hawk Rescued From Roadway In Eastport By Suffolk Deputy Sheriff

The red-tailed hawk was sent for assessment and treatment, officials say.

EASTPORT, NY — An injured hawk was rescued in Eastport Saturday, officials said.

According to the Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon's Office, at about 7 a.m., a deputy sheriff observed an injured animal on County Road 51.

She retrieved the red-tailed hawk, and deputy sheriffs began contacting local wildlife shelters to seek veterinary treatment, officials said.
