Hawk Rescued From Roadway In Eastport By Suffolk Deputy Sheriff
The red-tailed hawk was sent for assessment and treatment, officials say.

EASTPORT, NY — An injured hawk was rescued in Eastport Saturday, officials said.
According to the Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon's Office, at about 7 a.m., a deputy sheriff observed an injured animal on County Road 51.
She retrieved the red-tailed hawk, and deputy sheriffs began contacting local wildlife shelters to seek veterinary treatment, officials said.

The hawk was safely transported to Save The Animals Rescue (STAR) Foundation Wildlife Rescue in Middle Island and taken into their care for assessment and treatment, officials said.
