Moriches Elementary School nurse Teresa Ergul, RN, recently received the prestigious Recognition and Distinguished Service Award presented by the New York State Association of School Nurses (NYASN), an award given to recognize a person who has made significant contributions to the advancement of school nursing and the enhancement of NYASN.

Nurse Ergul, who has more than 35 years of experience as a nurse, has served the students of the William Floyd School District for the past 14 years – for a brief time at William Floyd High School and then the rest at Moriches Elementary School.
In addition to her school nursing duties, Nurse Ergul has served as treasurer of NYSASN for the past four years, and has made significant advancements in upgrading the organization's financial and accounting systems. She is also the past president of the Suffolk County Association of School Nurses.
