CENTER MORICHES, NY — Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing in Center Moriches recently announced that the facility had become a Certified Parkinson's Disease Care, or CPDC, facility — the only such New York facility with the certification.

The certification is exclusively offered to sub-acute hospitals, retirement, assisted living, dementia care, hospice, home health and skilled rehab and nursing facilities; Oasis is one of nine facilities in the nation that is CPDC certified, officials said.

This week, Oasis hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the announcement. Oasis’ staff and executives were joined by Suffolk County Legislator James Mazzarella and Kim Swicicki, a representative from Senator Dean Murray’s office.

To become a CPDC facility, select staff members from Oasis were trained to create and deliver care plans with specific attention to the symptoms, medications management and therapy considerations for a person with Parkinson disease, staffers said.

As a CPDC facility, the Oasis staff is specially equipped with the tools to provide the highest quality of care for the rapidly growing Parkinson's population on Long Island, officials said.
