Obituary: Thomas A. Tebbens, Sr., 83, Of Moriches
"Tom will be missed by his beloved wife Elsie and his five children, their spouses and 11 grandchildren."

MORICHES, NY — Lifetime Moriches resident Thomas A. Tebbens Sr. sadly passed away on Saturday, September 17 at age 83, surrounded by the love of his family, including his beautiful wife Elsie of 63 years.
Tom was born on December 30, 1938 in Port Jefferson and grew up on Barnes Road in Moriches. He graduated from Center Moriches High School in 1956 where he met Elsie and then served time in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was the second generation president and CEO of Tebbens Steel of Canal Street, Center Moriches. Tom served in this role from 1964 until 2001, and officially retired from working in 2018.
Today, Tebbens Steel LLC has relocated to Calverton Industrial Park with over 55 employees and was recently named one of the top Long Island Workplaces by the Long Island Press.

Tom was one of the oldest active members of St. John’s the Evangelist R.C. Church where he was a eucharistic minister for many years, taking communion to the sick on Sundays with Elsie.
Throughout his life, Tom was a talented craftsman, active boater and avid gardener. He was also a beloved member of the Moriches Yacht Club. He loved the East End of Long Island and spent every summer boating and vacationing throughout the intercoastal waterways.

Tom will be missed by his beloved wife Elsie and his five children, their spouses and 11 grandchildren: Beth and Tony Swaine and their two daughters Hayley and Maddy; Elisa Tebbens; Melanie Cirillo-Tebbens and her three children Lorenzo, Marina and Gabriel; Rebecca and Gerry Ryan and their three children Sean, Sophie and Maya; and Tommy and Kelly Tebbens and their three children Hannah, Amelia and Clara.
