'Baby Trump' Blimp Could Fly Over Central Park

The balloon, which depicts President Donald Trump as a baby wearing a diaper, was made famous during protests of Trump's visit to the UK.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — The "Baby Trump" balloon — a blimp made famous during the president's visit to the United Kingdom — could be coming to Central Park.

Two New Jersey men who have raised more than $17,000 to organize a "Baby Trump Tour" across the United States tweeted at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio asking for permission to fly it in Central Park. The balloon, which depicts Donald Trump as a baby wearing a diaper, would likely be visible from Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue and East 57th Street.

"@NYCMayor can you give us your approval to bring Baby Trump to Central Park? We are starting a tour in a few weeks and we would love to bring him to New York City," the tour's organizers tweeted at De Blasio.

A Parks Department spokeswoman said no formal request to use the park has been made.

Didier Jiminez-Castro, an activist from Hillsborough, New Jersey, and Jim Girvan of Branchburg New Jersey, started a GoFundMe campaign in July to bring the blimp to Trump's National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The campaign started with a goal of $4,000 but has raised more than $17,000 as of this writing.

"Given your generous response we will be purchasing more than one Baby so we can go coast-to-coast, border-to-border. Our goal is to make Baby Trump available to various locations around the country," the activists wrote on their GoFundMe campaign.
