Central Park Conservancy Set to Announce $300M Improvement Effort: Report

The New York Times is reporting the Central Park Conservancy will be aiming to raise a lot of money for park improvements — like $300 million worth of a lot of money.
According to the report, the Conservancy is set to release a 10-year, $300 million fundraising and rejuvenation plan for Central Park on Thursday. The Conservancy has overseen upkeep of the park since 1980. The Conservancy receives 25 percent of its funding through the city, with the other 75 percent privately funded.
Sites like the Naumburg Bandshell and Conservatory Garden are in need of major repairs, the report says.

Central Park's 843 acres now sees 42 million visitors per year, according to the Times, up from 12 million just after the Conservancy took control.
