Downpour Likely For New Years Eve In NYC, Forecasters Say
Forecasters say up to three quarters of an inch of rainfall is possible for New York City on Tuesday night.

NEW YORK CITY — The New York City area is expected to get up to three quarters of an inch of rain overnight on Tuesday, which could put a damper on New Year's Eve celebrations, forecasters say.
But, despite Tuesday's downpour, this week will see milder temperatures with highs in the 50s, until Thursday, when the temperatures begin to drop back down as a cold front moves in, according to meteorologists from the National Weather Service.
The New Year's Eve rain will last through the ball drop in Times Square into the early hours of Wednesday, and while temperatures may be mild, the rain and breeze may make it feel a little chillier, AccuWeather forecasters say.

"There can be a storm that arrives New Year's Eve or New Year's Day that has the potential to produce a mix of rain and snow for the Northeast, with all rain farther south," AccuWeather's Paul Pastelok said.
Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
